One of the active reviewing methods people tried out in my workshop was Storyline - which I used to call Happy Chart when it was a pen and paper exercise. With a rope showing the emotional ups and downs in a story, the storyteller walks along the rope/storyline while telling their story. There is plenty of scope for a listener to ask good questions along the way. See pdf file for examples.
For Spokes (the self-assessment and positive feedback exercise that we did) follow the hyperlink below. The ropes article is a bit out of date but is a useful reminder - and a little bit more!

Roger Greenaway writes: This is one of the active reviewing methods that people tried out in my workshop. Back to the Future helps people prepare for achieving a future goal - by walking backwards towards their goal as they answer questions from a partner about what they already have that will be helpful on their journey ahead. This 3 page pdf file gives you more questions. Please give me feedback on how it goes. The file includes extra exercises: Future Walking, Turntable and Horseshoe. PS We did it as a paired exercise, but you can also use it for group goals, by asking What do we already have that is going to help us perform well in (or get maximum value from) this next exercise? A volunteer can be the live marker on the rope - on behalf of the whole group. |

The H Form is a great method for getting responses to a key question from participants. On the plus side it is participatory and it is driven by what people want to say about what is important to them.
It works every time!
Enjoy
